why I am not a reformed baptist

Here's a sermon by Jonathan Modene entitled "why I am not a reformed baptist".
Reformed theology is spreading like wildfire; afterall, we are in the Laodicean church age.
If you are a reformed baptist or something similar, you need to hear this, you WILL give account of your doctrine and its effects at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
If you're not saved, stop acting slick about the confusion Satan is causing amongst Christians. There's nothing surprising or novel about his tactic.

We're not saved from hell based on our own merits, we're saved from hell based on the righteousness of the Son of God alone, which became ours the day we trusted his finished atoning work for us which he wrought at the cross of calvary, resurrecting in power on the third day.
Instead of feeling self-righteous, repent and trust the Lord Jesus Christ. We never told anyone to trust us. We always pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The word "refomed" alone makes me cringe.

Well the Reformation was definitely a work of God, even if the Reformers themselves got a lot of things wrong a good deal of the time.

    God Bless

After listening to this sermon I was wondering who he was talking about for certainly he was not talking about Reformed Baptist because I am a Reformed Baptist and I am amazed at the Strawman that he built and knocked down that was not true.
For example, did John Calvin caused the death of Servetus. Lets listen to John Calvin "For what particular act of mine you accuse me of cruelty I am anxious to know. I myself know not that act, unless it be with reference to the death of your great master, Servetus. But that I myself earnestly entreated that he might not be put to death his judges themselves are witnesses, in the number of whom at that time two were his staunch favourers and defenders. But I have said quite enough about myself."
So, when John Calvin entreated that Servetus might not be put to death some how the Preacher intreprets it as John Calvin wanting Servetus to be put to death. It just shows me the Preachers bias and lack of research in this matter.
About 90% of what he spoke of against Reformed Baptist is not true. I wished that he would have done a better job in his research.

Randy, you need to read Step Children of the Reformation by Leonard Verduin.

He gained access to Calvins personal letters and you are quite wrong. Calvin wanted him beheaded...not burned at the stake. Calvin is the one who had him arrested when he came to Geneva and went to hear Calvin preach. Calvin had the magistrates arrest him after the service.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about the Reformation. I suggest you read his treatise against Anabaptists.

How could a brilliant theologian believe in infant baptism, sacralism and a state church? He did own a bible. He should have been hiding in the caves with the anabaptist if he understood what he was reading.
