Back to the streets

This past Sunday, after the church’s morning service, a group of people from the church headed to the streets of downtown Montreal with the purpose of spreading the gospel of our Lord. The men preached, and the women passed out tracts. The last time we had gone street preaching was in November and we had faced major opposition. The man in charge of our group got arrested. He was released within a few hours and had even managed to make it back to the evening service. The good news though, was that two souls got saved that day!

Not that anyone from our group got scared from going back to the streets again, but our Pastor wanted us to wait for a green light concerning any “legal” issues (there really aren’t any, street preaching is legal, and they had no right to arrest the man of God). By God’s grace, we made it back to the streets this past Sunday and this time, we didn’t face much opposition. Sure there are those who despise the word of God, but there those who thirst for it. A number of tracts were distributed, and the word of God was heard.

There is joy in serving the Lord. When we made it back for the evening service, the spirit of God got a hold of the entire church as we sung our lungs out to the Lord.

And I’ll tell you something else, there is power in the preaching of God’s Holy word.

1 Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Battling in the frontlines is not easy. Some of us were nervous in the beginning but fears were soon allayed when we marched out singing "Rouse then soldier, rally round the banner... Christ is Captain of our mighty throng".

What a blessing and a great testimony that was. I overheard three men (of a suspicious faith) comment that they needed to stand on their feet. They watched as our men stood their ground boldly declaring the truth in the busiest street of our city.

Prayers were lifted up for their protection and the Lord anwered. Most probably holy angels were sent to surround and protect the Lord's army.

As our Assistant Pastor put it later that evening, we must forge ahead even if one inch at a time.

It sounds that you really got a bad deal there Leonard. Your name was mentioned at the prayer meeting last night. HOpe you get better soon.

As for street preaching, I am sure there will be many other occasions.

Amen! I'm excited about this up coming Sunday. Some of the men in our church are fired up about street preaching again, and we intend to go out Sunday afternoon before the evening service. Our big city isn't like it is in other places, in that we don't have sidewalks full of people to pass tracts out to, or preach to; we have to stand on the corner and preach to the CARS.

But praise the Lord, the word of God gets out, souls get warned of judgment to come, and the gospel of Christ get publickly proclaimed!

    I can't wait!

    Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. amen.

The Lord is granting you your heart's desire, Bryan. Praise the Lord for his goodness in opening the doors for you. I realize you have wanted to do this for some time.

You will LOVE it (afterwards especially). We always come back to church for the evening service all excited and fired up.

Shall be thinking of you and praying for you.

Again, I am very happy for you.
