Soccer Fever

The madness has begun. The offices are empty. I hope those of you who are writing final exams are not caught up in the craze.

You will never catch me watching soccer. I cannot stand the game.

Although the Britts invented the game?
    Matthew Celestine said...
ESPECIALLY because my awful countrymen are so fond of the game.

What happened to Far Above Rubies? It is not looking well.

Oh. Sorry. I would have thought it is kind of a national sentiment to love soccer. You should see the Latino colleagues over here. They are in a party mood.

Not sure either. Have been trying to access it all afternoon. May be Carey is doing a facelift to the site.

Far above rubies is fine now, Carey posted something :)

I enjoy soccer, though I'm not as crazed up about it as I used to be. I see how satan uses these things to steer people away from God.

You guys forgot about NBA Finals...

I have no national sentiment. My conversation is in heaven.

Soccer is a great source of idolatry in the UK.

    God Bless

I see how much you hate the game, Matthew, and that's fine. However I should say that you obviously do have a national sentiment otherwise you would not be interested in politics (at least that is the impression I get).

NBA is not a big thing over here, Joe.

Sarah, I agree. I believe that all kinds of sentiments that surround world games (including the Olympics) are a form of hero/idol worship.

When you look closely at the nature and history of the olympic games, you will realize that Satan has created another form of diversion to draw people away from God Almighty.

    Indeed.

    Whoa...whoa.....

Okay...I would like to say that YOU make something into what it is. If it is a source of idoltry to other people...so what? Food, money, shopping....all that is a source of idoltry to people. DOes that mean you don't do it? If people are crazed over a game, it does not mean you cannot enjoy it just for relaxation or fun!

That's not what I said, Joe

    i know you didn't say that.....nevermind.....
    i am sorry.
perhaps i went way too far.

Lo siento (spanish for "i'm sorry")
