Acts 16:31 KJV

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31 KING JAMES BIBLE

Notice, the King James Bible rightly states that to be saved, one must believe ON the Lord Jesus Christ. Now notice how the devil, like the snake he is, tries to cast doubt on the Word of God.

New International Version: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household. Acts 16:31

New American Standard Bible: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. Acts 16:31

English Standard Version Bible: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. Acts 16:31

Cotemporary English Version: Have faith in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved! This is also true for everyone who lives in your home. Acts 16:31

You may think that it's one little preposition, but this one preposition changes the entire requirement for salvation. To believe IN the Lord Jesus Christ will not get you saved.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (KJV)

The devil and devils also believe in Jesus Christ, but they do not believe ON Him. We must place our belief ON His saving name for the salvation of our soul. Believing and acknowledging His existence will not get us anywhere, other than the place we deserve due to our transgressions, hell. To change our destination, we must fulfil the true sayings of Acts 16:31. According to the Word of God, the King James Bible, there is salvation.

Psalms 119:41 VAU. Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.

I'm thankful we have the Word of God. I'm thankful for the KJV.

Would you explain the soteriological difference between believing "on" Jesus vs. believing "in" Jesus?

Matthew and Redeemed. There is a serious problem here: the KJV actually does speak about believing “in” Jesus for salvation. Your (plural) omission of this fact is surprising.

Matt. 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (KJV)

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Intruiging thoughts, Sarah. Curious, I looked up the original Greek (of course) to see just exactly what was said and the KJV does have the most correct translation.

    Carey, it is intriguing.

Jonathan, thanks for visiting. There is a difference between believing in Jesus, and believing on Him for salvation. The verses you have quoted are not salvation verses.

When I was first approached about the KJV, I had manny opposing issues, more than you could come up with, since I live in a French province.... I prayed, read and researched. I encourage you to go over to Biblebelievers.com for more info. I am not going to start some sort of debate over this, though I do appreciate your visiting Pen of Iron.

    God bless,
    Sarah

Jonathan, the Bible certainly does not consistently make such a distinction.

I did not think Sarah intended to imply there was.

Certainly, in places 'believe in me' may mean the same thing as 'believe on me.'

    Every Blessing in Christ

Sarah, you did not answer the question. Additionally, what qualifies as a "salvation verse"? Doesn't belief refer to salvation? Does the Gospel content change with the preposition? If so, what is the change? You need to be able to explain these things if you are going to make such radical claims.

Matthew, her following statement does not seem to support your view:

"To believe IN the Lord Jesus Christ will not get you saved."

Simply put, believing in the Lord is like Satan believes. He knows about Jesus believes in his existence, full stop.

Believing on Jesus makes him your saviour.

    Thanks Matthew, and Amen, Consecrated.

Jonathan, like I said, I'm not about to start some sort of debate. The ressources are there if your really want to know "why I believe the kjv". Biblebelievers.com. Thanks.

Is John 3:16 a "salvation verse"?

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (KJV).

That seems to directly contradict your claim. That's my last word.
    Redeemed said...
Fine, but my post was referring to Acts 16:31, why change that one, why cause confusion.

Jesus took the subject further and here's what Jesus himself said.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth ON me shall never thirst. .... 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth ON him, may have everlasting life:..... 43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them.... Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth ON me hath everlasting life.

John 7:. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe ON him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
    Redeemed said...
    yes, Amen, got that right!
