Cloned hamburger patties

On the TV set, the other day, the news was that a neighbouring government might be looking into legitimizing the sale of meat from cloned animals in super markets. What is worse is that when that happens there would be no label indicating where the meat came from.

I find all this so disgusting. I do not want to eat cloned meat.

I am sure they would not sell it if it was not safe.

I would still have a hard time with the subject.

    (1) The animals themselves are not cloned. In this process, they take the cell out of an animal (it thigh -for example) and stimulate it to propogate itself inside a petri dish (a small sterilized container about 2 inches in diameter). The resulting mass is simply ground beef. It is not the "cloning" that we all despise--they are not attempting to recreate life or copy an entire animal's various systems, body parts, etc...

However, either way (I have not yet fully decided upon my position towards this issue), I was reminded of the following (please read)

    1. 1 Corinth 8:8--But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak...(you know the rest)
    2. 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to...commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: FOR IT IS sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

These two verses can be applied either way--depending on whether or not you think man created these "beef cells." Or if it is God, who designed, created, and breathed life into these cells, who allowed us the means to find a way to stimulate these cells to copy themselves. Here, man is not in the picture. Rather, it is God, who allows such interactions between the cells He created and the chemicals He created.

I don't know yet--these are the two points between which I am caught at this point.

I am looking at the subject from a health issue. I don't think the subject has been well researched. We all know how many animals died during the cloning process before they were able to have Dolly. Health is a major concern for me. Who can guarantee that no weird disease will result from this unnatural process.

Very true. However, have you ever thought of how unsafe is the food that we eat? When you go to a restaurant, you never no whether or not they cooked the meat at temperatures high enough to kill e. coli. or the chicken to kill salmonella. you never know if the spinach you eat is safe. most of the fruits are sprayed with pesticides. even the "home-grown" plants are genetically altered to resist bugs and pests. the meat processing plants are not cleaned efficiently...grapefruit, carrots, seedless grapes, seedless watermlons, etc... are all genetically altered. "i can't believe its not butter" (the magical butter) is now thought to cause cancer (it is incredibly unsafe when cooked in an oven). Butter itself causes cholesterol problems. Bananas from the store are forced to ripen quickly (they are sprayed with gas to allow them to ripen)....etc.....

I guess adding meat to the list would just increase my chances of dying from food poisoning from 98% to 99%.

I am choking. Please let me eat whatever percentage is left. Otherwise, I am threatening the world, I shall go on a strict diet.

A good deal of research has gone into GMOs and there is no conclusive evidence of genunine health risks.

of going on a stict diet, you can just eat organic food!(unless that is considered a strict diet)

There is no scientific evidence that Organic food is better, Anon.

i wonder what manna was like....

yes, there is no definite answer to wether or not organic food is healthier , but logically, food without growth hormones or pesticides would be more...lets just say appetizing!

Thanks for the comments guys/gals (not sure if anonymous is a guy or a gal).

As for the manna question, see separate post.

Talk about organic food, manna is organic enough. I just hope you won't have the same reaction people in the OT had. :)
